So I got stuck in the elevator in my appt yesterday.
Smooth as can be, rolled right up to the 11th floor, stopped. Waited. Took me a few seconds to catch that the door, which lets me out of the metal box sitting above the ~300 foot empty shaft, is still closed.
Pants.
So, Fiddle with the buttons on the door. No Joy there. Push the big red one which proceeds to run the most obnoxious alarm beside my head for 20 min. Then that stops. Mixed blessing and all.
Get a surprise call from my boss, asking where I am at the moment as I'm not logged into the office net work. Oddly the most relief I'd felt up to that point was that call.
Feel the car start moving while on the phone, just a few inches. I'm a geek and I'm a gamer. If those are reading this let me say Halflife 1 flashed through my mind and my stomach turned into a nifty little ball of ice at the initial sensation of the car moving down.
About ten minutes later, with zero dramatics or fuss, the door opened. The tech from whatever company the land lord called had shown and more or less triggered 'open door' in the elevator. and lined up perfectly with my floor, the door opened.
From there it's pretty mundane. Talk to some people make sure I'm good. Go back up stairs, (emphasis on mode of accent) and then sign in for work.
Thursdays suck.
